First Friends: For our Older Adults, retired and not so retired!
One of the vibrant ministries at First Presbyterian is our ministry to, with and for older adults under the name of "First Friends." We don't have a rigid definition of what ages are involved, but activities are planned that target our almost-retired, just-retired and "considerably retired" members and friends.
A stated goal for the ministry is "to focus on the spiritual and social needs of our senior adult members and to connect senior adults with one another and with the church family for fellowship, service and personal growth."
Day and overnight bus trips are part of this ministry, as are a monthly "First Friends" luncheon and program, a monthly Sunday luncheon, a monthly Bridge Club, transportation to church functions and opportunities for volunteer service in the church.
We recognize that older adults approach the later years in a variety of ways, and we seek to be sensitive to the broad range of activities that might be appropriate in this ministry. You may want to participate, and you may also want to be a leader in this ministry. You can do either by calling the Church Office (383-1815) or Bill Caruso (298-9515).
