Join Creative Hands Group

Come join our Mission Monday's Creative Hands Group on the second (2nd) Monday of each month 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The group meets at the church in Courtenay Hall as they continue to create items to use on foreign mission trips and at local mission agencies. Come for all of the time (bring your own lunch) or just part of the time. You can even bring your children with you!

We encourage anyone who enjoys sewing, knitting, crocheting or even cutting fabric to join us for this time of fellowship as we support our church's mission efforts. Sewing machines are provided.

Here is brief look back at all the group accomplished over the past year:
  • We sent several banners to Africa with the team that just came back.  Bob LaGrone said that the banners brought the churches alive.  His enthusiasm was exciting.  Sandra Randleman shared the following as well:

Many thanks to you and the Creative Hands group for your creation of the beautiful and meaningful banners.  The Silanga Church (in the midst of the slum of Kibera) loved the banners and they were hung and proudly displayed at the church’s very first worship service on July 18.   They will be cherished for years to come.  Thank you!

  • This past year we also gave 34 blankets (with some booties and hats) to Children's Hospital.
  • We have made many prayer shawls that Sandra gives to members of our congregation who are ill and going through tough times.  Many times the family members become attached to the shawls after their loved ones pass away because the shawls symbolized comfort and prayers.
  • We donated 18 blankets, booties and hats to the Martha O'Bryan Toys and More Store.
  • We also made the baby blanket, hat and wash cloth that were given to the missionaries who were visiting this summer.
  • This past Christmas we gave knitted hats to the men that we hosted at Room At The Inn on Christmas Eve.  It was very moving to have breakfast with the men Christmas morning and see them open their presents.
  • We are well on our way to having over 60 scarves for the women at The Next Door for Christmas.
  • We will be devoting our September and October gatherings to making items to sell in the FPC bookstore, The Bookmark.
  • We continue to make baby items which we will donate to General Hospital.
  • We are hosting at least 5 women from the Next Door who will be transitioning on Sunday Sept. 27.  (3PM to 4:30 PM)  There will be a ceremony in the Chapel with a reception in Cheek House with cake and punch.  It is possible that we may have 50 to 75 people at the ceremony and reception.  It is a very moving ceremony and I would encourage anyone to come and support these courageous women.
Come help spread the warmth and love of Jesus! No need to be a professional seamstress - members of the group are happy to help you get started. We also have many women that can't join us for one reason or another, but they knit at home and send us their beautiful items.  Contact Karen Pasquale if you have questions, materials to donate, or want to become involved.
